Caldwell Hardware UK Acquires Cotswold Architectural Products Ltd!

ROCHESTER, NY– January 7, 2014 – Caldwell Hardware (UK) Ltd (Caldwell) today announced the acquisition of Cotswold Architectural Products Ltd (Cotswold) of Cheltenham, England, and its market leading operable window hardware lines.

Caldwell Managing Director, Alistair MacAulay, describes the acquisition as “an ideal fit for both Caldwell and Cotswold by bringing together two of the most respected names in the UK window and door markets”. 
Both UK based businesses, Caldwell and Cotswold have built their respective product range and customer base over the last 40 Years. The two Midlands based operations are well positioned to service the UK market and support Caldwell’s global business.   
According to Caldwell President and CEO Eric Mertz, ”the Cotswold lines will be complimentary to the Magnum range of friction stays already offered by Caldwell’s Advantage Manufacturing division located in Victor, New York”.  Company leadership said today, the business units will continue to operate as two separate entities leveraging synergies where and when we can while continuing to focus on the expanded capabilities, customer solutions and providing unparalleled “First in Service/Best in Class” solutions.
Cotswold was founded in 1974 in Cheltenham, England, Cotswold has been producing high quality, heavy-duty, four-bar and parallel hinges designed to provide the high load-bearing capacity needed for aluminum casement and projection windows.  The current Directors will remain involved in the business under terms of the purchase agreement, and operations will continue out of the Cheltenham facility.

Caldwell’s headquarters has been based in Rochester, NY since its founding in 1888. It maintains manufacturing facilities in Williamsport, MD, Pence Springs, WV, Juarez, Mexico, and Coventry, England as well as distribution warehouses in El Paso, TX and Alachua, FL.
